Gaelic Football

Ladies Gaelic Football

The Junior Ladies Gaelic Football team at Merlin College train every Wednesday after school with matches and blitzes organised throughout the year. All abilities are welcome, many girls are learning to play Gaelic for the first time. Their skills improve after each training session and match and they always show great team spirit and enthusiasm. Playing Gaelic is a great opportunity for young girls to learn the importance of co-operation, hard work, and commitment, as well as keeping them fit, active, and healthy both mentally and physically.

Boys Gaelic Football

Merlin College fielded teams at first year, Juvenile and Senior Level in this academic year. The teams trained every Monday and Tuesday evenings after school and showed a great level of commitment and determination to improve throughout the year. It was also fantastic to see TY and 5th Year students using their leadership, coaching and communication skills to help with the training and coaching of younger teams.

There were many opportunities for players to develop teamwork, communication and leadership skills. Hopefully these learning opportunities can be carried through to next year and help us enjoy many more successful campaigns in the future.
